Before we start talking about leveraging social media, networking events, and other marketing channels, we need to get clear on 2 things first:
#1: Determine what type of business you are running.
Is your business offline (local business) or online, or a combination of both? Because your marketing plan will go hand in hand with the kind of business you have.
It’s also important to know where your focus should be, so you can avoid bringing in confused energy into your work. When you’re not certain about this piece, you try to be everything to everyone by trying to be everywhere…spreading yourself too thin.
>> If you have a brick and mortar business (which simply means you have a physical office or setup), then you will likely focus MORE on the offline marketing strategies, like:
- Hosting a local event
- Going to meet-up events
- Attending networking events
- Do a business collaboration with another local business
- Become a sponsor
- Use paid advertisement (get posters, brochures, and digitally printed stuff made)
However, you can still totally benefit from online marketing efforts too! So many offline businesses are now expanding and leveraging the online world (real estate, spas, dance studios, doctors, chiropractors, you name it!).
>> If you have no set location, or if you focus on selling your products or services online, then you will likely funnel most of your marketing energy into online marketing platforms, such as:
- Facebook (Pages, Groups, Live streaming)
- Email Marketing
You need to pick 1 major online marketing method and get comfortable with that before moving on to another.
#2: Dive deeper into the type of marketing mindset you have.
This will help you put yourself out there with confidence, ease, and excitement. Because the fact of the matter is, if you have blocks around visibility, marketing or sales, no matter how much effort you put into it, you won’t see any results.
You will always feel like a fraud…
You will always be conscious about how you show up and how you’re perceived…
You will always feel reluctant to ask for the sale or pitching your services/products…
